therapeutic offerings

Our bodies are unique. So are our massage treatments.

Mettler’s therapists cater treatment to your specific needs.

We’ll review your expectations and health history before the massage. If you have questions before scheduling, call and ask to speak to the massage coordinator or another massage therapist.

Swedish/Relaxation Massage
Swedish massage uses slower, soothing massage strokes on the more superficial layers of muscle, and facilitates the release of “feel-good hormones” to relax and uplift the body and mind. This technique promotes general relaxation, elongation of muscles and connective tissue, improvement of blood circulation and range of motion, relief from muscle tension, and all-around mental and physical wellness.

Rehabilitative Massage
Therapeutic massage releases chronic patterns of tension in the body by applying various techniques such as dry/myofascial massage, trigger point therapy, passive stretching, and deep tissue therapy on the contracted areas in the fascia and deeper layers of tissue. This treatment can be very specific, focusing on only the problem area, or can be incorporated into a full-body massage depending on the individual’s needs.

Sports Massage Therapy
Sports massage can be used to help athletes reach optimal performance through injury-free training, enhancing the body’s recovery process, reducing the risk of injury, and effectively manage acute and chronic injuries. Techniques used may include deep tissue, relaxation, passive/active stretching, and myofascial work depending on the individual’s needs. We recommend that anyone with an active lifestyle get regular massage to help keep the body in good working order.

Pre-natal Massage
Pre-natal massage is good for relieving muscle tension, joint aches, and fatigue brought on by changes in the body that pregnancy creates. It can be performed throughout the second and third trimesters (week 13–birth). Massage is generally safe for the expectant mom and baby, but if you have concerns please check with your physician or licensed midwife, especially if you have a high-risk pregnancy. Women in their first trimester must have a note from their doctor permitting massage.

Massage Cupping
Cupping uses suction and negative pressure with a massage cup to create a warming, lifting sensation where the cups are placed. Most experience a state of deep relaxation during and after a cupping treatment. Cupping can help break down scar tissue and release trigger points and soft tissue adhesions. Note: This technique may leave temporary “suction” marks on the body. These are not bruises and are not painful to the touch. (This technique can be incorporated into any massage above with a therapist certified in cupping.)

Heated Bamboo Massage
Smooth bamboo of different sizes are heated and used to apply massage strokes to any area of the body to release tension and induce relaxation. Clients report feeling deeper and longer-lasting results with the addition of heat to the massage treatment. Pressure can be light for relaxation, or deeper for trigger points and hard-to-release areas.

Duet Massage
Enjoy the benefits of a relaxing massage together, with side-by-side massages in private space. Each person receives a unique treatment to address his/her specific needs. Perfect for special events such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or just because! Schedule your duet massage on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday—year-round.

On-site Chair Massage
Offer a unique “touch” to your office or event and bring relief to a large number of people in a short amount of time. On-site chair massage is is a short, seated massage which covers the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands.

Invite a Mettler therapist to your office. We’ll bring a special massage chair to perform 10–20 minute massages to boost morale and relieve stress in the workplace.

To ensure therapist availability, please request onsite massage at least two weeks in advance. If you can’t, we’ll try our best to make someone available. (All of our therapists have regular working hours at Mettler, so we can’t guarantee availability.)
