New Yoga: Yin & Strength

Check out these two new group exercise classes—a slow, meditative class and a strength-building flow.

Candlelight Yin Yoga
A slow, introspective form that applies moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body; the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, while increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Poses are held on the mat from 2–5 minutes in a calming candle lit atmosphere. This is a more meditative approach to yoga that aims to cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal interconnecting quality. Candlelight will be added to enhance relaxation.

Mondays from 7:30–8:30 p.m. in Studio A with Sarah V. (starting 10/30/2017)

Surprising Benefits of Walking

These days there are several types of exercise programs and it can be so hard to decide which one is right for you. While joining a Pilates, yoga, or spin class can be beneficial for flexibility, endurance, and strength, did you ever think of asking a friend to join you for a walk for exercise?

Here are some surprising benefits from walking just 30-60 minutes a day:

Be Inspired by Kim's Story

One of our favorite things at Mettler Center is hearing our members' success stories and seeing their transformations.

From rehabilitation to weight loss, each are so encouraging and reaffirm our committment to Mettler's mission and the work we are doing. Occasionally, we get to share these wonderful stories—to inspire and motivate others to live healthier, fuller lives.

Below is one such story. Kim's story is an textbook example of gradual, safe weight loss (as recommended by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics)—without fad diets or magical products, just good ol' fashioned moderation and movement. And to that, we say, "Way to go, Kim!"

Power Up Your Workout

Don't be fooled into thinking the Power Plate is a gimmick. First used by Soviet cosmonauts in the 1960s to counteract the loss of muscle and bone density, it is used today by elite athletes around the world.

The Power Plate was recently featured on Forbes.com, in an article titled, Work Out Like Celebrities and Professional Athletes With Power Plate, which highlights the history, benefits, results and impact the technology has upon everyone, at all ages and all fitness levels.

Mettler Center offers Power Plate training and offers a free Power Plate Consultation.
