The Mettler Release
Have a Happy Holiday Season With Mettler!

With the holidays quickly approaching, many of us feel as though we are too busy or tired to exercise. It doesn't have to be overwhelming.

We've scheduled several healthier ways to help you approach the season. We're offering you a discount nutrition program and a special holiday membership to your out-of-town guests.

We're also helping you get 2012 off to the right start. There will be a Weight Loss Challenge for adults, an Illinois Marathon training group for beginner and occasional runners, as well as preseason and offseason camps for high school athletes.

Throughout the holiday season, we hope that you remember that our staff is dedicated to helping you achieve whole life fitness and overcoming the struggles the holiday season can present.

Try Our Nutri-Coach Program This Month
We know how hard it is to make healthy eating choices during the holiday season. That's why we're offering access to several of our nutrition programs at a discounted rate.

During the month of December, anyone who purchases a Nutri-Coach 5-pack of 30-minute sessions or 10-pack of 15-minute sessions will receive one free session and a free grocery store tour.

Nutri-Coach offers a hands-on approach to changing unhealthy behaviors in to healthy, permanent habits. You'll learn to plan weekly menus, create grocery lists, fit exercise into your lifestyle and most of all, find the motivation to stick with your plan.

Our grocery store tour allows you to walk the aisles with a registered dietitian who will guide you through the store from produce to checkout. At the end of this hands-on experience, you will have the tools you need to shop for nutrition success.

To learn more about these programs, schedule a consultation with our registered dietitian.

Upcoming Preseason and Offseason Camps
Mettler Center will be hosting its preseason baseball and softball program for high school students ages 13-18.

The eight-week camp, which starts January 2nd, will be held in the Rehab Fitness & Sports Performance room, formerly Studio C.

During the camp, coaches assess the demands that softball and baseball make on the athlete's body and target those areas. Progressive conditioning adds strength and stability to key joints and muscles to get the athletes ready for the season.

Additionally, athletes will have the benefit of working with seasoned coaches who can help them improve their form and build their strength.

Starting January 2nd, Mettler Center will offer its speed and agility training for high school athletes between the ages of 13 and 18.

This eight-week class focuses on the technique of movement, development of force production, agility, explosive first movements, and power endurance.

Each athlete will be assessed to identify areas of weakness and strength, followed by a progressive training program designed to make the athlete more efficient, explosive, and powerful in both their linear and multi-directional movements.

Please contact Eddie Edwards if you have additional questions.

Nutrition Tip
of the Month

While you're at holiday parties, move around. If you're standing next to the food table, you'll shovel chips into your mouth. Limit the snacks that you eat by choosing three favorites and sticking to those. More nutrition
