We asked our personal trainers for their best summer fitness tips and mantras that can provide that extra bit of motivation.
Advice for summer fitness:
As temperatures and activity levels increase so should your hydration! Use a reusable water bottle and eat foods with high water content like fruits and vegetables!
Favorite motivational motto:
In order to get what you want, you must commit yourself to something!
Advice for summer fitness: Get involved in something! A park district sport, gardening club, a group fitness class or find a buddy that likes to hike/bike/exercise and "schedule" days to do activities. Accountability works!
Favorite motivational motto: Move it or lose it!
Advice for summer fitness: Take your regular fitness routine outdoors or add an additional workout by incorporating an evening walk.
Favorite motivational motto: Achieving your goal takes time, but each day is a chance to get closer and closer to it.
Advice for summer fitness: Make the wonderful outside your gym. All kinds of things you can do out there! If you would like to get some sun and have great fun join us in the pool for water fitness! Cardio, sculpting and resistance and lots of fun!
Favorite motivational motto: Grace over guilt and progress over perfection.
Advice for summer fitness: Find a partner to share the experience--spouse, friend, kid (they need exercise and role models, too), or the dog!
Favorite motivational motto: How bad do you want it? Take control, make the sacrifice, and get it done!
Advice for summer fitness: Try something new, shake it up a little.
Favorite motivational motto: Pull your belly button in and call in the cavalry. (You have to train with me to find out what that means!)
Advice for summer fitness: Drink plenty of water. Rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces. Aim to drink more due to increase in temperature.
Favorite motivational motto: Every journey begins with a single step.
