The Mettler Release
Introducing New Summer Programs

We know that the summer is a great time to workout, but it can be hard to get to the gym.

That's why we're making it easier for you. We're letting you bring a friend to join you for a workout for free once this month. We're also offering you new classes like Hot Yoga.

Children who have free time now that they're out of school can learn valuable skills in one of our sports camps. We have classes for high school football and volleyball players as well as junior high students who need to work on their strength and agility.

This month, we're also giving you tips that are just right for the season. We teach you how to choose fruits and vegetables at the farmer's market. As the country celebrates Healthy Hands Week, we'll help you test your grip, too.

We're excited to help you reach your fitness goals this summer and lead you to a better life. To learn more about Whole Life Fitness, talk with one of our personal trainers, member service members, or wellness experts today.

Farmer's Market Shopping Tips
Farmer's Market Shopping Tips

Do you take advantage of your local farmers' market? Even in large cities, farmers' markets provide an array of products and seasonal fruits and vegetables that you can't find elsewhere.

Sometimes, you can also find items like artisan cheeses and fresh or potted herbs.

Here are a few tips to make your farmers' market experience more enjoyable:

  • Go early for the best selection. You'll also beat the crowds.
  • Always bring a clean tote or two with you. Otherwise you'll have to use plastic bags which are bad for the environment.
  • Care for your totes by washing them in warm, soapy water or in the washing machine.
  • Use separate bags for raw and cooked foods.
  • Pay attention to food safety practices of the vendor. Have questions? Talk to the vendors about how to prepare foods.
  • Be flexible with your purchases - the market changes with the season.
  • Take time to talk to the vendors. They can make recommendations and help explain when fruits and vegetables come into season.
If you have questions about choosing the best fruits and vegetables, schedule an appointment with our registered dietitian.

Nutrition Tip

Try Hot Yoga
Hot yoga, Mettler's newest form of yoga, begins June 6th.

Hot yoga is practiced in a "hot studio" which is heated to 85 degrees. Practicing yoga in a heated studio amplifies the health benefits yoga offers, including deeper stretches and injury prevention, while reducing stress and tension.

Though you'll be improving your health, you'll need to watch your hydration level. Participants will be sweating a lot, so it's vital to drink water during the class.

This class will focus on flow yoga and should be practiced on an empty stomach.
