4 Ways to Incorporate Gratitude into Life
January marks a time of new beginnings, resolutions and goal-setting. This year, consider giving yourself the healthful gift of daily gratitude. Here are four simple ways for integrating grateful living into your life.
  1. Keep a daily calendar of gratitude.
With the daily calendar record multiple years next to one another so you can layer your thankfulness and savor your past.
  2. Utilize technology to foster more gratitude.
There are many apps out there that prompt you to keep a thankful list or to pause for moment and give thanks for something in your day.
  3. Thank the people behind the service.
Everyday there are people in the background of our life. The waitress at the restaurant, the barista, or gentleman that bags your groceries. Why not ask them what their name is and then sincerely thank them for the ease they bring to your life?
  4. Write a letter of gratitude.
Has a friend, teacher, coach, or co-worker made a positive impact in your life? Take the time to let them know how much they mean to you.
We are offering a new Guided Mediation class (starting January 15th) along with our Mindful Meditation for intentions like gratitude. Sign up today at Member Services or by registering online.

How Can a Wellness Coach Help Me?
You may have heard the buzz that we are now offering Wellness Coaching. We strongly believe Wellness Coaching will greatly complement the various other disciplines at Mettler Center.

Through Wellness Coaching, clients often work on disease management, stress reduction, exercising regularly, weight loss, pain or sleep concerns that may compromise a sense of overall well-being.
Who can benefit from a Wellness Coach?
Simply put, everyone. A Wellness Coach encourages and empowers individuals to make health-related behavior change to nurture their health journey.

We all have unique abilities and strengths in categories specific to us. But on the other hand, we all struggle. This is where a Wellness Coach can be your greatest asset. Who couldn't benefit from an outside perspective in the less powerful areas of our life?
What topics does a Wellness Coach address?
A Wellness Coach facilitates the achievement of self-determined goals in the following areas:
  • Weight Management
  • Stress Management
  • Pain Management
  • Awareness & Mindfulness
  • Lifestyle & Balance
  • Time Management
  • Improving Sleep
  • Managing Grief
How is a Wellness Coach different than other health professionals?
In Wellness Coaching there is a shift in the focus from "I'm the expert," to "Let's go on this journey together to help you change your life." The best Wellness Coaches have a client-centered process to empower clients to mobilize internal strengths and external resources for sustainable change.
Who is Sarah Graham?
Sarah Graham is an Registered Nurse, working for the past five years in a family medicine group practice in central Illinois before becoming a Wellness Coach.

The rise in chronic diseases and awareness of the impact of stress on health and well-being has motivated Sarah to become a Wellness Coach. She is board certified by The American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation as a Nurse Coach.

Sarah and her husband of 33 years recently moved from 8 acres to a condominium in downtown Champaign to simplify her own life and encourage others to cultivate a more aware and nurturing lifestyle.
