Recipe of the Week: Easy Campfire Chili

  • 12 ounce bag Texturized Vegetable Protein (TVP)*
  • 15 ounce can pinto beans, undrained
  • 15 ounce can black beans, undrained
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • ½ cup chunky salsa
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon creole seasoning
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
    *Example: Morningstar Grillers Crumbles in the frozen vegetarian section of your grocery store.  It is a soy-based vegetarian substitute for ground beef.
  1. In a large saucepan, cook the TVP over an open campfire until thawed.  Add the beans, tomato sauce, salsa, chili powder, and creole seasoning and bring to a boil.  Move to lower flames or hot coals and continue to simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. Top with cheese and serve.
