Physical Therapy Updates

Physical Therapy continues with in-person and virtual options. We guarantee an appointment within 24 hours of scheduling and free virtual or in-person consultations.

What can I expect with Physical Therapy?

1. Zero Wait Time
Our therapists are ready to accommodate all post-surgical and medical interventions needing physical therapy services either same day or within 24 hours.

2. In-Person with Reduced Exposure
We are uniquely equipped with a large facility and private therapy offices to give you the most protection and isolation possible while still receiving the necessary treatment to assist you with a faster recovery.

Our facility is CDC compliant.

  • All treatment tables and surfaces are sanitized/disinfected after every patient. This includes tables, headrests, bolsters, armrests, etc.
  • All linens used by therapy patients are sanitized after every patient (sheets, blankets, pillow cases, etc.).
  • All treatment room surfaces to include chairs, doorknobs, light switches and other surfaces are cleaned and sanitized frequently
  • Surfaces in the waiting areas and on the fitness floor are regularly being wiped down and sanitized.
  • All providers wash their hands in-between patients using soap and water, and providers are regularly using hand sanitizer.
  • All gym surfaces (to include door handles, fitness equipment, etc) are being sprayed daily with virucide disinfectant.
  • Fitness staff is cleaning equipment between clients and washing hands repeatedly.
  • Disinfectant wipes, sprays, and hand sanitizer are available throughout the facility for clients to use at any time

3. Telehealth
An excellent virtual tool that most insurances are approving during this time. We strive to make the experience as simple and stress-free as possible. You can even do complimentary consults via telehealth.

What is Telehealth?

What is it?
Delivering health-services with technology, often with a video-based meeting such as Zoom.

Does insurance cover?
During this time, most major insurance companies are covering this service. We are happy to confirm your insurance coverage for this service based on your individual insurance plan.

If your particular insurance is United Health Care Medicare Advantage, you are 100% covered for 30-minute sessions.

Is it complicated to use?
Our goal is to make the experience simple and stress-free. We will handle all logistics and plan to talk you through what to expect.

Can I do a free consult via Telehealth?
Yes, we do free consults via telehealth which is an excellent option at this time.

How do I get started?
Request an appointment online. Or simply call or text us at 217-398-9800.

Does Mettler still offer in-person physical therapy?

Yes! If you prefer in-person therapy, our facility is following CDC guidelines, and our unique model of one-on-one care in a private office with a physical therapist limits your exposure to others.

What can I do if I'm coming to the center for therapy?

Please keep in mind all of the recommended strategies such as:

  1. Wear a mask when entering the facility
  2. Keep 6ft away from other patients
  3. Avoid touching your face, nose, and eyes
  4. Wash your hands often for 20 seconds with soap and water or use hand sanitizer
  5. Cancel your appointments and stay home if you are feeling sick or are experiencing any symptoms

Personal Training Updates

Personal Training will resume on June 1st for in-person training. All of the trainers look forward to seeing their clients again as well as meeting new ones!

Is Gym Access Available?

As we enter Phase 4, we are excited to announce Mettler Center will once again offer complimentary gym access to active personal training clients starting Monday, June 29! Please talk with your trainer or schedule a free consultation for more information.

All clients will need to meet with their trainer prior to coming in solo for gym access.

Active personal training clients are those who meet with a trainer at least twice a month or every other week.

What do I need to know to use gym access?

All clients must meet with a trainer before using gym access.

Gym access is a complimentary service offered to active personal training clients, individuals who meet with a trainer at least twice a month.

Gym Access Guidelines:

  • Please make sure to scan in.
  • Everyone will need to have their temperature taken and wear a mask.
  • You will be responsible for cleaning the equipment you use thoroughly.
  • Please follow social distancing guidelines, remember to sanitize or wash your hands frequently, and stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms (fever, dry cough, etc.)
  • Please bring your own water bottle and a sweat towel as Mettler Center will not have water fountains, lockers, showers, towels available at this time. Eventually, we will slowly bring these things back in stages, starting with towels.
  • All clients will need to meet with their trainer prior to coming in solo for gym access.
What options do I have for Personal Training?

We have four excellent options for resuming personal training or having a fresh start.

  1. At Mettler: in a studio room or in the gym at a safe distance from others.
  2. Outside Fitness: where you meet your trainer at MC and then take your workout outdoors. We can’t think of a better all around option of getting in-person attention while enjoying the sunshine in a private setting.
  3. In-home Training: we come to you if you live within 5-10 miles of Mettler Center.
  4. Virtual personal training: via a video platform. We will make the process simple and stress free where you can work with any of the trainers from the comfort of your own home. Try it out and see what you think!

Request an in-person or virtual consultation.

Can I do duet or small group training?

Yes, if you are from the same household.

Duet Training can be done inside or outdoors if you’re from the same household.

Group Training and Duet Training is available only outside, weather permitting if the group or duet is from different households.

Do I need to wear a mask while working with a personal trainer?

We are asking all personal training clients to wear a mask upon entering the facility.  If you do not have one to wear in, we can provide one for you.  If you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, your trainer will make arrangments for you to be a safe distance from others.

What is the cost of virtual training as compared to in-person?

Virtual training is the same price as our standard in-person training. Feel free to check out our pricing guide.

Do you have contactless payment options?

Yes! Clients can pay securely over the phone or with the card we have on file.
Clients can also pay in-person at Mettler Center.

What can I expect if I'm coming to the center for training?

We have a waiver that we will be asking all clients to sign. Your personal trainer will do a temperature check prior to starting your session. We ask that you wear a mask, maintain social distancing, bring your own towel and water bottle. The touchless refillable water stations will be available to all, but we ask that you do not drink out of the water fountains. The locker room and showers will not be available for use at this time.  The restrooms are available for use and there’s a place to put your belongings.

How will social distancing be maintained?

Only personal trainers and physical therapists with their respective clients/patients and essential office staff will be in the building. We are continuing to suspend extracurricular gym access to minimize traffic and stay in compliance with state guidelines.

For personal training clients, exercise zones have been created.  Only one trainer and his/her client are allowed in each zone.  Your trainer will be mindful of social distancing throughout the entirety of your visit to the facility.

What are your cleaning practices?

Our facility is CDC compliant.

  • Surfaces in the waiting areas and on the fitness floor are regularly being wiped down and sanitized.
  • All staff wash their hands in-between clients using soap and water, and are regularly using hand sanitizer.
  • All gym surfaces (to include door handles, fitness equipment, etc) are being sprayed daily with virucide disinfectant.
  • Fitness staff is cleaning equipment between clients and washing hands repeatedly.
  • Disinfectant wipes, sprays, and hand sanitizer are available throughout the facility for clients to use at any time.

Massage Therapy Updates

We know you are long overdue for some stress-relief and relaxation, we are here to meet those needs!

How will massage be different when it reopens?

1. Will I have to wear a mask?
Yes, clients and therapists alike will be required to wear a mask.  For face down work, alternative safety precautions may be implemented, as it would be uncomfortable wearing a mask while your head is in the face cradle. (i.e., an additional pillowcase draped underneath as a barrier)

2. Will my massage therapist be wearing gloves?
Probably not, there is not sufficient evidence that this will be any more effective than good handwashing techniques.  The therapist will wash their hands just before starting the massage, and we will also ask our clients to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before the session begins.

3. Will I be able to come inside and wait in the lobby?

We are asking that our clients wait outside until their scheduled appointment time, and not enter the building early in order to minimize the number of people in the building.  Our providers are being instructed to be ready promptly for their appointments as well.

4. Will anything else be different for my massage?

We will ask that talking be kept to a minimum, to minimize the forceful output of breath.  This will be beneficial for creating a more relaxing experience as well!  Although, please do not hesitate to speak up if there is something we can do to enhance your massage experience.

For now, a couple of services will not be available: Deluxe Facial Massage and Duet/Couple’s massage.  We hope to bring those back soon!

When can I come in for massage again?

We know you’ve been missing the healing and therapeutic touch of Mettler’s massage therapists, we have, too!

We will be back to normal massage hours starting on Monday, June 29!

Call 217-356-6543 or send us a message to schedule your appointment!

What are massage safety precautions at this time?
  • Both therapist and client will be wearing masks (for face down work, we will drape a pillowcase under the headrest for protection and easy breathing)
  • Temperature checks
  • Client assessments and waiver—inquiring about specific symptoms and contact with infected individuals
  • Social distancing throughout the facility
  • Frequent use of hand sanitizer and thorough hand washing. The therapist will wash hands or sanitize just before the session begins and directly after the session
  • Disinfecting all surfaces between every client—even more detailed than usual
  • Minimizing face and hand massage
  • Options for no-contact payment
  • Linens—one blanket per client, protective covers on all pillows to be sanitized before and after use, a new pillowcase for each client, sheets brought into the disinfected room with clean hands
  • Not offering Deluxe Facial Massage or Duet/Couple’s massage at this time
