COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

At Mettler, we are closely following the progression of the Coronavirus within central Illinois, especially surrounding Champaign-Urbana.

Updates:

4/6:

Mettler Center’s massage therapy and personal training appointments are currently canceled until further notice and will open when it is safe to do so and the Shelter in Place order is lifted. Physical Therapy will continue operating with additional screening. Please follow us on social media for updates and to stay connected with Mettler Center.

3/31:

For the health and safety of our staff and patients, we will be screening everyone in our facility. This includes our Coronavirus intake screening questionnaire as well as taking the temperature of all who come into the office. If you have a fever (cold, cough, or any flu-like symptoms) we will not be able to treat you and will ask that you do not return until you are symptom free for 14 days.

3/20:

Governor J.B. Pritzker has announced a “shelter in place” order beginning Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. April 7, 2020.

Non-essential business would include our massage therapy and personal training department. These departments will be unable to operate from March 21, 5:00 p.m. until April 7th and therefore unable to see clients during this time period. Mettler Center continues to look at ways to help find ways to support the employees we have in these departments during this time.

Essential business will include our physical therapy department. We will continue with normal operating hours for physical therapy and continue to adhere to the CDC and local public health guidelines.

We will be closed on the weekends during this time.

3/18:

As an extra measure, we will be asking patients and clients to fill out the following COVID-19 Screening. Please print it out and bring it with you, email it to info@mettlercenter.com or one will be provided for you at the center.

To Our Mettler Center Community,

We are truly witnessing history and each of us are affected by this pandemic and the story is just beginning and is still being written.

Governor J.B. Pritzker has announced a “shelter in place” order beginning Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. April 7, 2020. This is in an attempt to curtail unnecessary interaction and transmission of the COVID-19 virus in a more aggressive and timely manner.

All “non-essential” businesses will be closed during this time and those employees in this category will be asked to stay at home. Essential businesses will continue to include healthcare workers and medical offices.

How will this affect Mettler Center and the services we provide—massage therapy, personal training and physical therapy?

Non-essential business would include our massage therapy and personal training department. These departments will be unable to operate from March 21, 5:00 p.m. until April 7th and therefore unable to see clients during this time period. Mettler Center continues to look at ways to help find ways to support the employees we have in these departments during this time.

Essential business will include our physical therapy department. We will continue with normal operating hours for physical therapy and continue to adhere to the CDC and local public health guidelines.

Federal government recommendations supported by the CDC include the following: “If you work in a critical infrastructure industry…such as healthcare services, pharmaceutical and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule. As stated above, the “shelter in place” orders include health care among the exceptions.

The American Physical Therapy Association and its Board of Directors has also released a recommendation stating: “The best approach is to rely on the professional judgment of physical therapists to make care decisions based on a specific person’s needs and risk/benefit analysis…and it is our basic responsibility to do what is best for our patients”.

These decisions are not easy to make and we have carefully weighed what we think is the best course of action during this difficult time. The above recommendations and the feedback we have received from many of our patients have helped to solidify our efforts at providing care to those in need as it pertains to physical therapy.

Be well and take care of yourselves. We all need to come together and we all need each other.
