Backstory: where it all began

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?
A: I became a personal trainer because it gave me the opportunity to use exercise and physical activity to significantly make a difference in the overall well-being and quality of a person’s life.  

Q: Where did your health a fitness journey begin?
A: My journey began at Parkland College where I completed a one-year preparatory personal training program in order to get certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?
A: I have always loved health and fitness. After going through my own personal health and fitness transformation I wanted a chance to share my enthusiasm and knowledge with others. I decided to step out of the profession I was in and become a trainer. This profession allows me to share my passion of health and fitness with others and aid them in their transformation.

Backstory: where it all began

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?
A: Because after having a couple other jobs I asked myself, “What do I like doing, and how can I make money doing it." I’ve always liked to exercise, for whatever reason.

Q: Where did your health and fitness journey begin?
A: At the local Mattoon YMCA when I was about 15. Started working out with a friend before school to get stronger for soccer. Been exercising ever since.

Q: What is your best health/fitness advice?
A: The billion dollar Nike slogan, “Just Do It.” Have some self-discipline and no excuses.

Backstory: where it all began

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?
A: I was a group exercise instructor at Mettler Center first. But I really wanted to help members more one-on-one with their specific goals. Being a part of a person's fitness journey as they better their life is an awesome thing! I strive to give them the tools that lay the groundwork for them to become a better version of themselves. It is a humbling experience and great thing to watch the process.

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?
A: I've had a respect for and fascination with the human body and how it works for many years. After having a career in massage therapy for over a decade, I decided in 2014 to start a complementary career in personal training and rehab fitness. This expanded my understanding of form, function and how injury affects the body, as well as how to prevent and help heal injuries.

A: I love working with people and am fascinated with the human body. I always knew I wanted to make a positive impact in people’s lives someway, somehow. I love that personal training allows me to work with all walks of life and share my passion for health and fitness. I am also grateful that it allows me variety and flexibility in my work schedule.
