The Mettler Release
Getting Back on Track
Greetings!

We can't believe we're already halfway through summer!

Summer, while full of many wonderful highlights, has a tendency to throw us off our regular schedules and healthier routines. Combine that with trips to your favorite ice cream spot, drinks on the deck, and a disproportionate amount of vacation spot sweets, and we can feel like we're right back where we started.

If this sounds all too familiar, perhaps the added accountability of a personal trainer is just what you need to jumpstart your routine. Take advantage of 20% off a training package with our newest personal trainer Rob MacFarlane. Also, consider gaining the knowledge of your unique metabolic needs with an RMR test.

Why You Should Know Your RMR
Why You Should Know Your RMR
Even at rest, your body is hard at work--pumping blood, breathing air, making cells, ridding toxins. All these basic functions require energy, and the collective work of these activities is referred to as your metabolism.

Your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), is the rate at which your body burns calories when you are comfortably resting. It can be measured by a personal trainer and can be helpful to know. Here's why:
  1. Support Your Health
Your RMR tells you the minimum number of calories your body needs to keep your body functioning properly. Restricting calories below your RMR is counterproductive and can adversely effect your health.

  2. Boost Weight Loss
If you are looking to shed pounds, knowing your RMR can help you (and your trainer) craft a more effective weight loss strategy, allowing you to better track calorie requirements and understand the effect of exercise on your waistline.

  3. Increase Your RMR
Believe it or not, there are ways you can increase your RMR. After an initial baseline measurement, and following a sensible program to build lean muscle mass, you can be re-tested to observe how many more calories you are buring at rest, even while sleeping!
So what does an RMR test entail? It really is quite simple--just relaxing and breathing into a tube! For best results, you should fast for at least eight hours and be in a rested state prior to testing, which means testing is best done first thing in the morning.

Let us arm you with the facts of your metabolism, so you can better achieve your health and wellness goals. If you are interested in learning more, we offer RMR testing and other assessments for members and guests. Call 217-356-6543 to schedule. See the offer below and save on an RMR test during the month of July.
