Backstory: where it all began

Q: Why did you become a massage therapist?
A: Long ago, in a galaxy far far away...I was having neck trouble and a friend recommended a chiropractor. I saw him and got a lot of relief; he suggested I get a massage to help with the soft tissue restrictions, so I did. I had never given any thought to massage before, as a career or as treatment. But, I was sold on both after that massage! It just felt right, and I immediately started researching the field and programs in my area. Within the next year, I was enrolled!

Q: What did your best health/fitness advice?
A: Make time for yourself. Whether it's quiet/alone time, exercise, a night out with friends... MAKE that time to invest in your mental and physical health!

Q: What is your favorite type of massage to give and to receive?
A: I have discovered that a firm, but gentle massage works best for my body. I used to think deep tissue was the answer for everything, but as it turns out, you can often get more benefit from lighter, soft tissue work. I also LOVE heated bamboo. Since I mostly see clients for specific issues or pain-related circumstances, I really love to give the occasional full body relaxation massage.

Current: the here and now

Q: What are you doing when you are not at Mettler?
A: In the evenings, I usually get a workout in if I didn't during the day, then I am relaxing at home with my hubby and our furry babies. Weekends we often visit family who live out of town, get together with friends, and love to have lazy Sunday mornings watching a movie.

Q: What is your favorite way to de-stress or treat yourself?
A: A good workout always whisks the stress and anxiety away! And it's always wonderful to get a massage of course!

Q: What is the most annoying question you get asked?
A: When are you going to have kids?

Q: What is the one thing you can't live without?
A: Coffee

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
A: Ice cream

Q: What is your spirit animal?
A: Tiger

Q: Pizza or tacos?
A: Ohhhh toughie! Pizza!

Future: the best is yet to come

Q: What's something you've always wanted to try?
A: That ride at fairs where you sit in a swing and it goes around and around... I know, lame, but I am a chicken!

Q: What are some of your wellness or fitness goals?
A: To continue losing a little midsection weight and increase muscle tone, make more time for meditation and deep breathing.

Q: Where would you like to take your next vacation?
A: Planning a trip to Alaska next year!
